Tightly Knit, Loose Fit

an exhibition exploring the dynamics of language and artmaking as interconnected aspects of praxis. According to Paulo Freire, praxis describes the perpetual process of making something in the world and making meaning of it. This concept is fundamental to the mission of the Artist Praxis podcast, founded by the exhibition's curators, Debora Faccion Grodzki and Sarah Arriagada, and central to the conversations they conducted there with each exhibiting artist.

“Covid 19” is a painting that was a collaboration with the ICU Nurse Anthea Allan of Tooting Hospital in South London to create a memorial for the Nurses that worked through this horrendous pandemic. The painting was object of the Artist Praxis podcast conversation. A print will be shown at the exhibition.

Things that are there because they are not there, like a shadow, or death... On the 21rst I will give a talk and workshop with the above title at the Slade. I will be talking about holes and also the ephemeral in my work , in others work, in biology, psychology and elsewhere. Unfortunately the talk is not open to the public. ( The Photo is of sculpture by Barbara Hepworth. I pass it a few times a week and it has a wonderful hole. Its also interesting, because the original sculpture is actually not there anymore. It was stolen, with a large truck and probably smelted for the metal value. ) .... #talk #slade #contemporaryart #markusvater #art #holes #gestalt #sculpture #barbarahepworth #thinking #lecture #teaching

Jahrhundert postulierte?
